Wait what do I not know about the traditions regarding the first of May?
All I know involves big fires dancing alcohol and Bratwurst

there’s an old dirty folk rhyme that goes “hurray hurray, the first of may, hedgerow tupping begins today!” which is a reference to the beginning of spring being the start of mating (“tupping”) season for sheep & many other animals. i guess they’re doin’ it in the hedgerows. Jonathan Coulton has a slightly more explicit song inspired by it!
